Sir Burton’s Community in Laos
Recently I have been corresponding with a reader who goes by the name of “Sir Burton.” Besides running an interesting and worthwhole blog at http://sirburton.wordpress.com/ he says he is starting an intentional community in Laos and invites others to join him. Following is his recent letter to us. His email address is whitemirror13@yahoo.com.
Here’s the letter:
In these interesting times we must network and support each other.
It helps that I agree with absolutely everything you say…
I can’t blog much at the moment because I am setting up an independent self-sufficient (and self sustaining) eco-village on a beautiful mountain plateau, covered in forest with a river spotted with islands running through the center in SE Asia (Laos) – a project involving many unorthodox complexities, to say the least ! I am aiming at implementing as many alternative technologies as possible to make a showcase of all the cheap, ecological systems available for power generation, air cooling, water supply, food production etc… Every system we use must be easy to assemble from readily available simple parts (idiot proof is another way of putting it).
So if the west becomes too unstable or dangerous over the next few years – fairly likely in my view – it can also serve as a back-up plan for like minded people; a place to meet and exchange ideas in a secure and inspiring location. I am actively searching for good reliable people to participate, so if you know anyone with a slightly adventurous inclination who would like to set up an ethically driven business – or just a holiday/sabatical/retirement retreat in a paradise location – don’t hesitate to let them contact me. Anyone with technical skills is particularly appreciated. Local prices are amongst the lowest in the world, which allows people with creative ideas to let loose at a fraction of western costs, so my engineer friends love it !
If things work out, we will have fiber optic networking and an airport 60 km away within a year, something that has motivated some of my more geeky friends to prepare moving their businesses over next year. It should be fun – I’ll keep you posted..
Keep fighting the good fight !
There is a Sufi saying that roughly translates as “the saint nourishes each part of the world by seeing and recognising the beauty contained in it. When the last saint dies or is blinded, the universe’ beauty will starve and disappear. That mirror given to the soul of man by God will break”
Meditation, and it’s side effect of boiling down complex conceptions to clear understanding of universal systems, is also a powerful weapon (as you have clearly realized) that can not only liberate the individual, but also help destroy pernicious structures with the vorpal blade of undeniable simplicity and truth. The one thing that the current batch of enemies of humanity can not deal with is expressions of real truth and justice that cut through the barrage of obscuring linguistic verbiage and confusing, contradictory messages of political correctness in which they drown every one of their pernicious actions. If we ally clarity of thought processes with the wonderful access to education and information possible through our technologies, we have more means to change the world than ever before in human history. It seems to me that we are living in a time where all the worms can be seen crawling out of the wood. Maybe it is the historical crux, where the future ethics of humanity will be decided once and for all. The “dark side” certainly seem to be acting in an “all or nothing” format in most of the western world right now… However every day passing it seems they have less credibility and more empty space is appearing around them waiting to be filled by other structures we, the people, enact.
Maybe the gift to our current generations is the sheer transparency of the evil polarity and it’s actors. When it is subtle enough to stay hidden, people don’t feel any motivation to rethink their systems or stamp out vampyric influences. My personal prayer is that enough experienced people of logic and sensitivity will quietly react and take part in reorganizing this world now, creating networks, communities and associations that are entities of mutual verbal agreement and consent, whose power derives not from legalities, contracts and systemic paperwork, but from a multitude of articulate, proud, human beings expressing the same simple truths in agreement – and requirements that their humanity and souls be allowed to fully express their possibilities without the current stunting influence of power mongers devoured by hubris, megalomania and fear of losing control over the arbitrary and illusory pyramids of power they have inherited – unmerited.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
I’m sorry I haven’t managed to post more on the blog recently – there is so much to say ! But I have many priorities to respect, and more than a few people who depend on my presence for the time being. Hopefully I will have more free time to write in a couple of months.
Warmest Regards,
SIr Burton

In January 1986 Cook became the first NASA official to testify publicly on the space agency's prior knowledge of flaws in the solid rocket booster O-ring joints that destroyed Challenger and took the lives of its seven astronauts. He told his story in the book Challenger Revealed, published in 2007. Publisher's Weekly wrote of the book: "Easily the most informative and important book on the disaster."

Richard, I hope that you keep up on this. All these links could point to an international waking among the peoples of this planet and that is very important. Please keep us informed and Thank You.
